Chemical Peels

A chemical peel is a chemical exfoliation that rejuvenates the skin by gently removing the top layers. The main purpose is to eliminate dead skin cells to reveal new, healthier skin.

Types of Peels:

30% Salicylic Acid:

Salicylic acid is a lipophilic beta-hydroxy acid (BHA), meaning it's oil-soluble. This characteristic makes it especially effective for treating acne, as it can penetrate pores and dissolve sebum and dead cells that clog them.

Benefits:

  • Relieves acne breakouts by reducing swelling, redness, and blemishes.
  • Reduces sebum (oil) production, preventing the formation of new breakouts.
  • Reduces the number of blackheads.
  • Exfoliates the skin, removing dead cells.

Ideal for:

Patients with oily and acne-prone skin.

35% Glycolic Acid:

Glycolic acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) derived from sugar cane. It is known for its small molecular size, which allows it to penetrate the skin easily.

Benefits:

  • Improves the appearance of sunspots (hyperpigmentation).
  • Improves skin texture, leaving it smoother.
  • Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Stimulates collagen production.

Ideal for:

Patients with mature skin, sunspots, uneven texture, and expression lines.

Phenol Cross (Chemical Reconstitution of Skin Scars):

PHENOL CROSS is a technique that uses concentrated trichloroacetic acid (TCA) applied directly to acne scars. This method induces a controlled inflammatory response that stimulates collagen production and remodels scar tissue.

Benefits:

  • Improves the appearance of deep acne scars, including ice pick and boxcar scars.
  • Stimulates collagen production in the treated area.
  • Helps smooth the texture of scars.

Considerations:

This is a deeper procedure than salicylic or glycolic acid peels and should be performed by a qualified medical professional. It may require a longer recovery time.

Ideal for:

Patients with deep acne scars that have not responded to other treatments.
